Review Based on a true story and set in the 1980's when Irish politics was at its most treacherous and kids were growing up amongst daily fire bombings and riots. Marty McGartland, 19, is a young Irish street hustler who falls into step with the IRA. But his politics are not yet clear in his own head, mostly because he finds it hard to buy into their cruel justice. The British have their eyes on this popular young man and approach him to work for them. Without really understanding the true consequences, Marty sees only the money and becomes a double agent. But when his actions save lives...or not, Marty feels the power of his position and starts working hard for the British, not for politics but to save lives. |
